Rodarte in motion

There is a perfect storm of aesthetic and aural amazingness happening in the form of the short film Kate and Laura Mulleavy made for the Rodarte spring collection, AANTENI. Ready for this magical combination?

Guinevere van Seenus (hearts forever), in Rodarte future seaweed-lattice finery, directed by photographer Todd Cole, runs around somewhat bewildered and upset to a musical score by No Age.

Almost too much to handle, right?

es_rodarte-motion_03Run, Gwenny, run!

The film looks gorgeous and sounds great. That's the good news. Right about now I would guess that you would expect me to break down some sort of a plot for you, and I am sorry to have to tell you that I have noooooo idea what the hell it is about.

es_rodarte-motion_02Slightly NSFW — oopsy

Van Seenus runs through a seemingly abandoned part of town (in Nicholas Kirkwood for Rodarte heels — give this gal a medal) and walks in the ocean; there is some sort of a factory hangar thing; and at one point she gets some sort of naked body-scan thing. … What does it all mean?! Humans are dead, and now we need GVS clones? The Mayans were right: It all ends in 2012, so wear Rodarte while you can? Art is weird? My guess is a combo of all three. Or really, none of the above. Does it matter?

However you want to interpet it (and please, feel free to give me your take in the comments), it's a great combination of talents, and I hope they continue to make awesome and weird movies for every season; if anything, I love to see those dresses in motion.

It's currently streaming over at Nowness. Go take a look !
