I dye

It all started back in September, when Proenza Schouler sent Valeria Dmitrienko down the runway with sea-salty, crunchy hair that was dirty blonde at the crown and ended in a greeny-blue around her shoulders.

Since that show, my Twitter feed (my most addictive source of info, duh) has been blazing with everyone talking bout dying their hair. My blogger bros Tavi and Arabelle went for the plunge, candy-colored editorials starting showing up in the spring issues, and even ol' Kate Moss went blue at her Longchamp bag launch (to seriously mixed reviews; but, I mean … I liked it, Kate!).

In other words, superduper mayjah trend alert!

The other night at Milk Studios, I counted no fewer than six Manic Panic'd gals wandering around (including the aforementioned teen blogger dynamos, with whom I was rollin').

Service note for trend-minded readers: Those of you who are natural-born brunettes or gingers looking for that thrill … an expensive and scalp-searing bleach process awaits you — just be forewarned. (This really is an instance where blondes have more fun.) Or you could do what I did in high school: Give yourself streaks with your mom's Jolen Creme Bleach and then dump a jar of Manic Panic on your head. I leave the choice to you.

Proenza Schouler does look like she is back from the grave there, not a good look!
